Dior: Sometimes the best art isn’t in galleries.

First Stop: House of Dior

When the galleries were closed over Easter I explored an art world in the land of luxury shopping... House of Dior boutique on New Bond Street. Hanging from the ceiling of the entrance is a chandelier – like floating castle.
By South Korean artist Lee Bul.

In Baby Dior Italian landscape painter Alberto Bertoldi has a piece from his “Cloud” series on the ceiling so when you lie down you see clouds. It’s just magnificent. Further into the collection there’s a wall piece by Timothy Horn from his "Pearls" series.

Mercury Landscape by Rado Kirov a wall hanging commissioned by star architect Peter Marino for the boutique. The interior combines conjure up the spirit of Louis XVI with a twist of Parisian flare and a nod to British with an instore conservatory.

Other artists in the collection include Ewin Wurm, Marc Quinn, Helene De Saint Lager, Richard Faure, Robert Poldori, David Benjamin Sherry, Chris Succo, Felipe Gomes, Laurent Chauvat, Erik Lindman and Hubert Le Gall.

This is the first of three reviews on art and the luxury shopping experience.

Next week we are covering Maison Louis Vuitton New Bond St.
